On the highest mound of the Margaux appellation you can discover this beautiful Classificated Growth of 1855 dedicated to the magnificence of wine and the art de vivre à la française.
The estate's name is inspired by its location, as it is situated on a tertre (hillock or rising ground in French). The château is located on one of the highest and most beautiful gravelly rises in the Margaux appellation and it dates back to 1143, which makes it one of the oldest properties on Bordeaux's Left Bank.
The vineryard is composed of 52ha planted and to date, almost half of the property (26 hectares) are cultivated with the biodynamic philosophy...
Eric Albada Jelgersma acquired the estate in 1997. Thanks to major investments and careful management, Château du Tertre now expresses its intrinsically elegant personality through its wines, year after year.Since 2018, it is Eric’s children who take care of the familie’s three properties.
Guided tour: History of the Château, visit of the wine making facilities and underground barrel cellars.
We can adapt the tour to the interest of our visitors and focus on either history, technical explanations or other specific subjects concerning winemaking.
The tour is followed by a tasting of two wines (red wines) : Les Hauts du Tertre (2nd label of the winery), and Château du Tertre, Classificated Growth of 1855, Margaux.
