10:30 am: Château Prieuré-Lichine
The day begins at the Château Prieuré-Lichine, one of the oldest properties in the Médoc.
This former priory of Benedictine monks who belonged to the "Pope of Wine" Alexis Lichine is the ideal place to discover the history of the region, of the Margaux appellation and of its prestigious wines. Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the Château will also detail the history of this prestigious Classification.
The Château is one of the rare properties in the Médoc to produce a white wine, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The Blanc du Château Prieuré-Lichine will be paired with a sturgeon terrine with Aquitaine caviar. Of course, you will not leave without having tasted the Château Prieuré-Lichine, Grand Vin of the domain in the Margaux appellation.
Noon : Château Kirwan
Château Kirwan awaits you for your second gourmet stopover.
Magnificent chartreuse with white stones, this 3e Grand Cru combines tradition and modernity. Since 1925, the Château has belonged to the Schÿler family, an illustrious family of Bordeaux merchants. Here, the visit will highlight the links between trade and viticulture. The marketing of the Grands Vins de Bordeaux will no longer hold any secrets for you!
On the tasting side, Château Kirwan invites you to taste a wine produced by Maison Schröder and Schÿler, followed by the Grand Vin of the estate. All accompanied by the sweetness and crunchiness of Bordeaux cannelés.
1:00 pm: Lunch
Château Kirwan will welcome you for a picnic-style country lunch, which you can enjoy in the park or inside depending on the weather.
3:00 pm: Château La Tour de Bessan
For this last step, Château La Tour de Bessan invites you to discover more in depth the grape varieties that make the Margaux appellation so special. After an explanation of winemaking and aging techniques, you will be able to put your new knowledge to good use during a blending workshop.
Château La Tour de Bessan offers you the opportunity to taste mono-grape varieties, to fully appreciate the difference between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. You will also discover the property's Grand Vin in the Margaux appellation, accompanied by Mademoiselle de Margaux chocolate twigs.
