11:00 am

Your first visit is one of the most ancient winegrowing estates in Bordeaux. It has made wine without interruption since the 13th century. Built in an understated style, the Château itself is an impressive building dating from the Middle Ages. In 1786, Thomas Jefferson, the future president of the United States, a gastronome and great wine lover went on a grand tour of France to discover its vineyards. In Bordeaux he selected a few famous estates and his diary shows that he came to this one to taste the “Wine of the Odalisques” as it was then called in the United States. Thomas Jefferson also left his mark by planting an American pecan tree in the Château park. This tree, over two centuries old, still takes pride of place in the inner courtyard today.

Specialized in white wine making we will explore their cellars and see how their wine is made. The visit will be followed by a tasting of both red and white wine.

12:30 pm

The lunch (included in the price) will take place on the grounds of a Château in a romantic scenery, under the shade of the giant trees in the couryard. It consists of fresh local products made by the chatelaine herself (the lady of the chateau).

This property is a 17th century jewel which has retained all its original charm. The family has owned this listed building in the Southern Graves since the 50s and are slowly bringing it back to life. It takes the name of the smallest appellation in Bordeaux, (which generally signifies that it is the most important property in the appellation) specialized in sweet white wine. The also produce dry white and red wines and we will taste all of them.

2:30 pm

Depart to your next visit in the Graves in the Pessac Leognan appellation.

3:00 pm

Your next visit is in a property which blends modern expressions with traditional savoir-faire. For over 200 years this property has been producing fine wines. More recently the family have invested in a sculpture park in their vast gardens and cellars where art adorns the concrete egg vats. The wines are a perfect example of a classic Pessac Leognan wine. You will have the opportunity to sample both reds and whites here. A leisurely stroll through the park will conclude the visit.
